Our web site will be recreated with a radical new layout and design in the next few weeks. We will feature up to 30 pages, places for banners, interviews, and videos. We are looking forward to making the site more user friendly. Respect, Peace and Light Xtine

Is Las Vegas a true 24-7 town? Yes. Is the clubbing scene 7 nights per week? You bet!
Just do your homework, plan ahead, make connections, and have a back-up contingency plan. There are many local venues which support 'Electronic/ House/ Techno/ live dj'ing'. But to be 100% honest, it's the venues which play a variety of music, including top forty, hip hop, mash-ups, and a moderate amount of house that receive most of the attention in the media and garner most of the tourist traffic. Web sites such as Napkin Nights.com And The Circuit LV.com Can help give info. for guest list privileges and or coupons to get free entry into clubs. If you find there is a particular club you are itchin' to get inside of, you can hang around the gaming tables, hotel lobby, or the entrance of the club itself during dinner/ cocktail hour to see if perhaps a VIP Host is around giving out info. / guest passes to the club that night. You might want to network with the VIP hosts before your trip, via email, or texts to Arrange to buy bottle service for you and your party to ensure entrance to the club you desire. Las Vegas has grown from one after- hours club and three nightclubs to at least 30 clubs and three solid after-hours clubs.
International dj's with recording contracts come through Las Vegas in a controlled manner;
Sunday's they can be heard at Revolution , The Beatles Lounge in the Mirage.

Tuesday evenings they perform at Studio 54.
Wednesday nights Ministry of Sound hosts international dj's at Body English. Thursday nights international talent gets to take over the main room of JET in the Mirage.
Saturday for Late Night Empire, International talent takes the main room while local dj's and Many times another up-and-coming touring dj accompanies the headliner either in the lounge room, the patio, or simply 'opens' for the headlining dj'.
Nightclubs often will have celebrities celebrating their birthday's at a club. People seem to enjoy attending a party knowing they're in the midst of a celeb. 'tyin' one on' so to speak.
There are still some great 'entry-level' no-cover events with dj's getting down and dirty with the possibility of dj's who are visiting sin city in hopes of gigging here can hit the 'open decks'.
Put simply, the club scene in Las Vegas has grown so large that often the lounge bars in the main hallway adjacent to the gaming tables of many hotels has a dj in ADDITION To the mega-club to accommodate the patrons who are unable to gain entry to the main club of choice.

Global Peace Grooves Network is dedicated to helping those in need of assistance. If you need help making your way peacefully through life, seeking to help others with their struggles, or are part of a charitable organization, let us know and we'll help put the word out.

Global Peace Grooves started its work on September 12, 2001, on Mp3.com with online radio playlists. Global Peace Grooves eventually started an onlinerecord label featuring artists around planet Earth. Over one quarter of a million downloads and many cd sales helped give donations to charity projects. Many friends were made from listening to and downloading music from the playlists of Global Peace Grooves. Artists earned the respect of their peers and fans alike by exchanging their original music files to remix with other's music and offer the new song to the public -- many times free-of-charge.

"The way I go about with my life is to be as compassionate as possible. Try to find magic in everyday life and stand in awe over its power and mystery. The best way I could express my understanding of this is through the music I mix and create. I love losing myself in the groove? Dancing for hours without stopping, without noticing the way I look, or the way Im dancing. Those pivotal points of ecstasy in which I feel I have become pure being, my true self, and the absolute embodiment of all that is holy and sacred within me. When I DJ, I would get into such a groove that my heart felt as if it were the actual record spinning and the beat emanating from the speakers below would be the beat of my magnetic heart. At that moment, the loneliness I would feel on a day to day basis would disappear. Everyone in the room would understand and know me for the beat would be my most ultimate expression"

Morningstar
has been kind enough to grant me a 'mini-interview'.
Christine:
1) In your opinion what was the hardest thing to accomplish: getting signed or getting residency at TAO?

MORNINGSTAR:
Well, Low Records is actually something my brother and I are in the process of starting, so my answer might be biased as I haven't really tried or put my efforts into getting signed by an existing Label, also, I've been putting most of my efforts into DJ'ing. I'd say given the same efforts, they may be equal, although perhaps getting a residency at Tao might be akin to getting signed to a major-Indie or possibly even Major Label in ones respective field. getting a residency at Tao seemed nearly impossible when I first moved to Vegas (less than a year ago), when I was trying to get the Music Directors attention. However, besides building my resume up, an ex-entertainment director at Krave ended up working at Tao, and introduced me to the right people, who gave me an opportunity to wow 'em, and fortunately, I've succeeded thus far!

Christine:
2) how hard is it traveling back and forth from LA to Vegas each week on top of occasionally touring as well?

MORNINGSTAR:
It's pretty rough, I've gotten used to it, but it's not easy. It takes damn dedication towards wanting to excell in my career. Every time I think of all the reasons why it isn't very smart, easy, etc. I just realize "this is what I've chosen I want to do, so if I wanna get to the top, I need to dedicate everything I've got to it and pull nothing back".

Christine:
3) Any advice for dj's who want to start out? Should they concentrate on creating their own music first and remixing other artists or should they start out djing?

MORNINGSTAR:
Personally, I'd say no. I had a bunch of DJ's giving me that advice when I started......Producing definitely DOES improve ones knowledge of mixing, music, understanding, etc. and earns you credit and respect......But if you want to make it as DJ, I personally think to just work your ass off in that field 'till you get in the door, establish yourself, then start focusing on Producing, etc. as time allows, and as the DJ'ing starts flowing smoothly. I've produced my own tracks during leisure time, however I myself haven't even gotten to sitting down and doing a remix yet......It's actually next on my "to-do List", haha.

Christine:
4) Your music lists are so damn hot and in several well incorporated categories. Have you ever considered being a consultant to program directors of satellite radio, or to podcast, or to dj on the radio?

MORNINGSTAR:
I've thought about it and would certainly love to do it, I had Q-Vegas approach me to do their first Top-10 List, which was cool, however I haven't really gotten myself to get in touch with the right people to do more things higher in that field, such as being a consultant....It would definitely be something I'd like to do.......Any ideas on who to talk to?? haha.

You can catch Morningstar @ Krave and Tao in Las Vegas and Arena in Los Angeles.
Please check Morningstars MySpace page for music on the player and dj gigs/dates.

Hustle & Flow

John Singleton mortgaged his home to make Hustle & Flow. MTV & Paramount got on board. Craig Brown wrote & directed Hustle & Flow. Terrence Howard plays DJ a pimp turned rapper. Taraji Henson plays 'Sug', a pregnant prostitute, girlfriend of DJ and good luck charm turned vocalist. Taryn Manning plays Nola, a prostitute, friend of DJ who 'grows up' to be his promoter. Anthony Anderson plays a dj (turntablist) tuned music producer and record label owner. Ludacris plays a corrupt rap superstar who forgot his music's roots.
And forgive me for not being 100% on this but a guy who looks like A. Broody is the white, 'beats maker' and keyboard player. Hustle and Flow makes you want to memorize the words, buy the soundtrack, watch the movie over and over again and write a review! The film spells out how to translate into music the struggles in life with passion. The victory over struggle and personal growth can be felt by the viewer. Even Sugs baby becomes one of your own. The video store doesn't have enough copies of Hustle & Flow (IMHO) I can't wait to buy it! - Christine Justice

DJ Miss Joy
has recently been gracious to kindly grant me an interview.
Christine:
1) I would like to know what you see as the hardest thing for female dj's in this industry.
Miss Joy:
1. the hardest thing for a female in this industry is for men to take us seriously... we have to work 10 times harder to prove ourselves as good technical djs...
Christine:
you host events and allow up and coming dj's to spin with you. 2) What skills/ attributes are you looking for in dj's if they are looking to get booked here in Las Vegas?
Miss Joy:
... I look for honest djs that would give me their word that they are a good credible technical dj. Regardless of their genre, I enjoy all styles. I look for djs who are hungry and willing to promote themselves and the event to spread good positive energy and vibes for electronic music scene.
my future plans for an all female dj lineup is in the works--- the process is still going, also, do a charity event on a more mainstream level, hopefully with the help of lady miss Christine Justice :)

Barry Manilow
Barry Manilow is enjoying the beginning of his second year at the Hilton. He's performing on the same stage that had Elvis, Frank Sinatra, & Sammy Davis Jr. Barry Manilow was so elegant, graceful and wonderful. I cried. I danced. I sang along. I remembered my first make-out session with a nice jewish boy during winter break down in Florida to "Mandy" by Barry Manilow. I highly recommend seeing Barry Manilow while visiting fabulous Las Vegas. The man asks the audience to please give the locals a tip while listening to them bang on the ivories and belt their hearts out in the local bars. How could you get any more humble? Review from "A Fanilow" of Barry Manilow Christine J.

Word! to recent graduates: It's been a while since I graduated from High School. So long in fact, that I feel a little old. But one of my best friends,Dana, is like, almost thirteen years younger than me. Age doesn't matter with friends. We are going to the same college. The average age in college these days is around 34-years-old. Anyways,my friend Dana recently graduated from college. I was so proud to cheer her on at the graduation ceremony. I'm in the process of finishing a few associates degress on the way to a bachelor degree and hopefully a masters degree. Women should focus on being cooperative, open, being connected to others, and interdependent. They shouldn't worry about what other women are doing to better themselves that could seem like competition. Or be "ageist". Your new best friend could be 13 years older OR younger than you! Being "like sisters" is ideal these days. Right on! CJ;-)

According to everyone who has seen him, or viewed his promotional tape, or read his letters of recommendation from clients who have hired him to perform for their events, Dennis should probably have his show televised. Trends In Nightclub Music

    By Christine Justice

Today's club music is so varied that a person going out to a club might do well to take a course in musicology before venturing out for an evening of dance. Often a nightclub will have dj's 'open' the show who play music that is familiar but after that people can expect to hear music the 'headlining' dj has produced. The styles of music vary from rap/hip hop to trance and everywhere in-between. The crowds in nightclubs are still often divided in favor between electronic music and hip hop. Many people say it's easier to dance to songs they already know from the radio so they might prefer to go to a club with a dj who hasn't gotten their own record deal yet. Those dj's usually must play songs from a variety of popular artists. Dj's who produce music for other artists and create a signature sound of their own often have their own remixes and style of music marketed with TV commercials, radio commercials, and movie sound tracks before they reach 'superstar' status. From there they tour in support of their CD releases, video game sound track songs, music samples for software for music production and various amounts of merchandise for their signature brand. One can envision a time when dj's will have the matching amount of merchandise equal to hip hop artists. There are two movies that have been released about the club scene and it's origins; "High Tech Soul", and "It's All Gone Pete Tong." High Tech Soul is about the origins of electronic music (in Detroit) and It's All Gone Pete Tong is about a wayward superstar dj Frankie Wilde.

    It's All Gone Pete Tong

In Las Vegas expect to pay anywhere from $10 to $40 for cover. Venues like Ice with a major promoter group like Godskitchen are charging $40 per person male or female for 'headlining' Saturday nights and holidays and are selling tables in pairs. Pure separates the women from men in their lines and also charges both males and females. There are plenty of opportunities to get in for free if you are a 'local' female and some venues offer all locals a free entry or discount on special evenings. You should check out the two major free weekly papers for somewhat reliable info. : "City Life" and "Las Vegas Weekly" and websites like The Circuit for the latest scoop and possible guest lists for out-of-towners/visitors. Drinks run from $5 to $15 each in most clubs and table service starts at $200 and usually includes the cover charge for 3 to 4 people and a bottle of alcohol and perhaps a few mixing products for the alcohol such as tonic water or soda and lemons and three places to sit at a table/booth. Otherwise, expect that there may be NO place to sit at all. Expect to wait in line at least one hour unless you've bought tickets in advance, are on a guest list, or buy a table or two. Sill looking for yet another way to possibly get on the guest list? Try Napkin Nights

Donating blood is easy in Las Vegas. The United Blood Services asks those considering giving the gift of life to walk in, or make an appointment. All blood types are needed all the time. Less than 2% of Nevadans donate regularly. Consider how it will help someone. It's quick,it's safe, it doesn't hurt, you don't have to do it that often and you will help save a life. * Also, the United Blood Services are in 19 states.

Ali and Bono What can't they do? Ali Hewson, Bono's wife, won an Oscar for her role narrating the film "Chernobyl Heart". The couple run a natural food company. They started a clothing label, EDUN, which fairly employs people in Africa and Peru. Bono was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize (2003) for his work to help end debt and poverty. U2
